Emotions in the workplace

An individual's emotional personality type will tell you much about what kind of worker you are about to hire. "The emotional tone" of the individual is going to tell you whether or not he or she is someone that is going to be productive, motivated, self sufficient, or someone that you might be wasting a lot of potential time, effort, and money on.

By “emotional tone” is meant those personality and behavioral characteristics that any individual will tend to exhibit at a given emotional state. As it turns out, virtually everyone is in a particular "emotional state" or tone at any given time. And just like a musical scale, these emotional tones can be high or low--with each emotional tone having an inherent set of predictable and observable personality characteristics.

Rohn Walker, President of IET, brought together three major talents to collaborate on Emotions in the Workplace. In order to make the process of learning the various personality characteristics of the emotional tones something any business person can do, Walker has produced a film demonstrating the emotional tones and the consequences of hiring or promoting a particular personality type – be they " good" or " bad". The DVD entitled Emotions in the Workplace is enjoying great success around the world and businessmen from virtually every type of industry are finding the information to be highly valuable and practical.

Producer Michael Doven, well-known in the movie industry, brought 18 years of expertise and experience to this training film. He was Associate Producer for films such as The Last Samurai, Mission Impossible II, Minority Report, Collateral and Vanilla Sky and has contributed to a dozen other films.

Director Gary Ravenscroft, whose work has ranged from television commercials and feature films to music videos and documentaries, is known for his unflinching, innovative visuals and compelling performances. He has earned many awards including ten prestigious American Advertising Federation Awards, an Australian Film Institute nomination and eight awards from the Australian Cinematographers Society.

Co-director, writer and star of Emotions in the Workplace, Jim Meskimen is an accomplished actor, improviser and voice artist whose work has been seen and heard on television, in movies and on stage for many years. His TV appearances have included Whose Line is it, Anyway?, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Seinfeld, to name a few. He has also been featured in movies such as Apollo 13 and The Other Sister.

"We made the film because we felt that a visual representation of the various emotional tones was the best and fastest way to illustrate this new concept," says Mr. Ron Walker. “While business people are always looking for that competitive edge, as a business consultant you are working with very busy individuals who don't have a lot of time. This film provides a very rapid and practical introduction to the concept of how to hire and utilize personnel correctly and it does so in a very short period of time. Those business people who have watched the film have been very happy with the results once the concepts were put into application in their businesses."

The video was a very useful tool for noticing and observing how moods and emotions affect our ability to coordinate and create a better space for
ourselves and those around us. I will be a better observer of social and chronic tones to ground my assessments of new relations and polish my
interpersonal skills towards people at various emotional tone position.
